National Commercial Bank –Internet & Enterprise Data Center Project (2005)
Team Leader

The National Commercial Bank is one of the largest financial organizations in Saudi Arabia, with more than 600 branches across the Kingdom. Responsible for the overall integration of multi-vendor equipment for the new Data Center, including Juniper M7i Routers, Juniper Netscreen 5400 & 500 Firewalls with VSYS implementation, Alteon with Firewall Load Balancing, Nortel Passport/ERS 8600 switches and Teros Application Gateways. Produced the VLAN and IP design documents with the logical traffic flow diagrams and completed the ‘Proof of Concept’in the lab with all components in full meshed active-active configuration. Configured and tested Network Management Systems for major components of the network.

Ministry of Interior –Network Infrastructure Upgrade Project (2005)
Project Manager

Produced the standard Project initiation and implementation documents. Created detailed network design document for all components, including Physical connectivity, Layer 2/3 addressing, Voice Networking and Security policies. The key components of the project included the Nortel Passport LAN and Multi-service WAN, Contivity Firewalls and Succession Telephony equipment for 11 sites to form an integrated Voice and Data Network across the Kingdom.

Royal Saudi Air Force –High Speed Network (2005)
Data Network Engineer

Resolved various connectivity issues between Lockheed-Martin long-range radar systems and Sunhillo’s Serial-to-IP converters. The issues were related to various low-level signaling problems on RS-422/RS-232 interfaces, including clocking, wiring, polarity and protocol issues. The Radar traffic was later successfully sent to multiple Airbases using IP-Multicast over the new high speed ATM network to complete the POC.

Baud Telecom Company –Network Security Project (2004-2005)
Project Engineer

Implemented Network Security infrastructure based on Fortinet products from ForiGate-50 to FortiGate-800 at all company sites. Various features were implemented on these gateways, including Firewall Zones/Policies, Anti-virus, Anti-spam, IDP, VPN and multiple types of NAT. The device was also configured for auto update of Virus/IDP signatures and external logging.

Royal Saudi Air Defense –Head Quarters Voice & Data Network (2004-2005)
Data Network Engineer

Successfully built the IP Network for Royal Saudi Air Defense Head Quarter, for the largest IP Telephony System in the Kingdom at that time. The IP network was configured and tested for QoS using 802.1p/DiffServ and was based on Nortel’sPassport 8600, 8300 and BayStack 450 switches. Supported the voice team in the installation of Nortel MCS-5100 and Succession 3.0 with more than 2,500 Nortel i2002 & i2004 IP Phones. Implemented VPN and RAS for remote users using Soft Phone through Nortel Contivity Gateways. Built LDAP accessible Corporate Directory/Authentication Services based on Windows 2000 Active Directory and integrated it with Implemented various applications, including Optivity NMS, Call Pilot Unified Messaging System, Enterprise Fax and VPN/RAS services for single sign-on solution.

Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency –Server & Application Load Balancing (2004)
Lead Project Engineer

Designed and implemented an Application Load Balancing Solution for the Bill Payment Division of Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency. The solution was based on Nortel’s Alteon 2424-SSL Application Switches for the main and the disaster recovery sites. Also configured and demonstrated the SSL Accelerator features of the product. The result was the optimized distribution of the transactions among multiple servers, originating from all the major banks in Kingdom for utility bill payment services.

Saudi Aramco –Network Upgrade Project (2000-2004)
Team Leader

Provided Level-3 technical support in implementing the largest Alcatel based Data Network in the world. Led a team of three engineers providing Alcatel related support in all regions of the Kingdom. Main tasks in the project were:

- Providing configuration and operational support to customer for management of Alcatel switches
- Firmware upgrades and maintenance of more than 2,500 Alcatel hybrid ATM/LAN switches
- Testing and resolution of interoperability issues between equipment from Alcatel and other vendors.
- Network Management using Alcatel and HP NMS tools
- Testing and implementation of new features as required by Aramco
- Reviewing of engineering packages and designing custom configurations for special requirements

Faisaliyah Tower –Multi-Service ATM Network (2001)
Lead Project Engineer

Al-Faisaliah Tower is a state-of-the-art building located in the heart of Riyadh and it was the tallest building of the Kingdom at the time of project. Installed and Commissioned Multi-Service ATM backbone for the tower, which was connected to the Saudi Telecom’s Public ATM Data Network. The network was based on multiple Nortel Passport 6K switches and it enabled the management of the tower to provide ATM and Frame-Relay connectivity to the tenants.

Yanbu Petrochemical Complex (Yanpet) –ATM Network (2000)
Lead Project Engineer

Redesigned and configured the existing Nortel Centillion ATM Network at the world’s largest petrochemical complex. The existing network had problems related to network performance and stability, and was not fully operational since the initial installation. Extensive traffic analysis and equipment testing was performed, after which the redesigned network was implemented with additional redundancy and bandwidth. The network was then successfully tested and accepted by the customer.

National Guards Health Affairs –ATM Campus Network (1998-2000)
Lead Project Engineer

Designed and Installed ATM/IP Network of 5000 nodes at King Fahad Hospital Riyadh and King Khalid Hospital Jeddah. The network was mainly build using Alcatel/Xylan Omni-Switches, IBM 8265 switches and IBM MSS Multi-protocol Switch Servers. Main accomplishments were:

- Analysis of existing legacy applications & protocols that used to generate a plenty of broadcast traffic (NetBIOS, LAT)
- Design and implementation of dynamic protocol and ether-type based VLANs to limit broadcasts
- Layer 2 PNNI & Layer 3 IP Design to provide maximum redundancy and performance
- Installation and configuration of multiple FreeBSD servers to provide various services including proxy, DNS and firewalls
